Unable to obtain an ink marker from Camp Phoenix soldiers who were handing out school supplies, this teacher at the Udekylhs School, located in the worst part of Kabul, asked me to get him one. The orange ink marker in his front pocket no longer functioned. The soldiers refused to give me an ink marker for him. The teacher simply watched, frustrated, as the few donations disappeared quickly in the surrounding school buildings. A two-star general (far left) accompanied the soldiers for a photo-op.
